Isle of Man Angel

Silver Angel coins were produced for the Isle of Man by the Pobjoy Mint; the largest private mint in the UK and Europe. The coins were modelled on both the old French 'Angelot' coins from the 14th century, and the English Angel coins from the 15th century.

These coins depicted Archangel Michael slaying a dragon - mythos that would lead to the story of St George slaying a dragon and, subsequently, appearing on the British Sovereign coins.
